Leora Fox, PhD

Science belongs to everyone. My mission is to enable academic researchers, companies, and nonprofits to bring science into focus for multiple audiences using language that is direct and understandable.

About Me

I'm passionate about conveying science with clarity and accuracy for any audience. I have a PhD in neurobiology and diverse experience in communicating scientific concepts to researchers, medical professionals, and those affected by rare disease. Whether editing a manuscript, reviewing patient-facing resources, or delivering a themed talk about research progress, I aim to engage the audience and create excitement about your scientific ideas.

I graduated from Brown University in 2008 with a degree in Neuroscience, worked as a technician in an Alzheimer's laboratory at Harvard/MGH, and completed my doctorate in Huntington's Disease at Columbia University in 2016. I worked as a Trainee Medical Writer at Caudex before joining the Huntington's Disease Society of America in 2017 where I spent 7 years, the last 3 with oversight of research and patient engagement programs. In this role I worked with multiple stakeholders from industry, non-profit, and HD-affected families to speed the progress of drug development, reinforce the pipeline of engaged scientists, and ensure that community voices are central to ongoing research efforts.

I am based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I live with my husband and young daughters. I am a people person, a trombone player, a reader, a writer, a lover of cooking and company.

I work on a per project basis and would be happy to chat about how I can help you refine your messaging for scientists, medical professionals, or the lay public.
